Discover Scuba

Course prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18, 10 with parental consent

  • Demonstrate adequate swimming skills and in-water comfort

Open Water Scuba Diver

Makes it possible for you to complete all of the academic requirements for your entry-level scuba diver certification online. Yoy can get started right now and, when you are done, you will then complete your in-water-skill-development sessions and final open-water training dives at a local Dive Center close to home, or at a popular vacation destination. It's that simple! Now, go dive the world with your certification.

Nitrox Diver

​Nitrox is a breathing gas that has a lot of benefits for both new and experienced divers. This course will cover the use of nitrox mixtures from 22 to 40 percent oxygen.

  • The certified diver looking to advance their knowledge and skill set

  • The certified diver looking to extend their no decompression time limits

Course prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18, 10 with parental consent

  • Open Water Scuba Diver, Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent, or current enrollment in one of those courses

Advanced Scuba Diver

The Advanced Scuba Diver Program was created to make truly *Advanced Divers". During the course your Instructor will take you through four complete TDI or ERDI specialty courses (for example; Deep, Navigation, Photo, Video, Intro to Tech, Tender, etc.) covering all the skills and subjects, so that by the end you will feel comfortable to conduct dives of a similar nature. Once you have logged your 25th dive (these can include any and all training dives), visit your local facility with your logbook and verification of completing four TDI and ERDI specialties and you will be awarded the Advanced Scuba Diver certification.

By earning the Advanced Scuba Diver certification you will have increased abilities and comfort in the water and be ready for the next step, Rescue Diver.

Who this course is for:

  • Any certified open water scuba diver who wishes to expand their diving knowledge and skill set

  • Any certified open water scuba diver who would like to advance their dive training

  • Any Advanced Adventure diver or equivalent who would like to receive more experience in the specialties they participated in during their Advanced Adventure diver program

  • Open Water Scuba Diver, Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent

  • Minimum age 18, 10 with parental consent

Rescue Diver

The Rescue Diver Course is designed to develop the knowledge and necessary skills to effectively perform diver rescues and assist and administer the necessary first aid in the event of an emergency.

You will learn skills such as how to perform self rescues, buddy rescues, recognize and calm potential panic divers, administer proper first aid to divers that have experienced dive related injuries, conduct effective search patterns and manage accident scenes. After the Rescue Diver Course you can enroll in the Master Scuba Diver Development Program or start in the professional ranks and sign up for the Divemaster Course.

Who this course is for:

  • Any certified open water scuba diver who wishes to expand their diver knowledge and skill set

  • Any certified advanced adventure diver or advanced diver who would like to advance in dive training

  • Anyone interested in becoming a dive leader

Course prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent

  • Provide proof of current CPR, first aid and oxygen (O2) provider (where local law permits) certification*

  • Provide proof of Advanced Adventure Diver certification, or equivalent, or open water diver certification and 40 logged open water dives

DIVEMASTER COURSE

The Divemaster Course is the first professional level certification. During the course you will learn how to work with divers, lead certified divers, and act as a dive guide showing divers underwater dive sites and the marine life that inhabits those dive sites. You will increase your knowledge about physics and physiology as well as increase your proficiency with your scuba and snorkeling skills.

Who this course is for:

  • The advanced diver interested in working in the dive industry as a professional dive guide or moving on to become an instructor

Course prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18

  • Certified Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent; advanced certification must include verifiable experience in deep, navigation, night, and limited visibility specialties

  • Certified Rescue Diver or equivalent

  • Provide proof of current CPR, first aid and oxygen provider (where local law permits)*

  • Provided proof of at least 40 logged dives (see 3.11 for number of dives/hours required for graduation)

Assistant Dive Instructor

The Assistant Instructor course is designed to help students gain practical teaching experience with an active Instructor. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may teach and certify students in the Snorkeling course, conduct the Inactive Diver/Refresher course, teach approved specialties after receiving instructor training in those specialties, and certify divers for the Advanced Diver recognition rating, among other qualifications.

Who this course is for:

  • A Divemaster who is ready to take the next step but is not ready to teach full time

Course prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18

  • Certified Divemaster or equivalent.

  • Provide proof of current First Response Adult and Child Emergency Care Provider and Oxygen Administration Provider (where local law permits) certification or equivalent.

  • Provide proof of at least 60 logged dives or 50 logged dives and 25 hours underwater accumulated time.

  • Possess the minimum instructional equipment, as defined in leadership course standards section two of this manual.

Instructor

The Instructor Course is designed to train current divemasters or assistant instructors with the knowledge needed to safely function as open water scuba instructors. The program is divided into two main sections:

  • IDC – Instructor Development Course

  • IEC – Instructor Evaluation Course

Courses You Will Be Able to Teach

Upon successful completion, graduates are authorized to teach the following courses:

  • Open Water Scuba Diver

  • Inactive Diver / Refresher

  • Advanced Adventure Diver Specialty

  • Computer Diver Specialty

  • Rescue Diver

  • Divemaster

Who This Course is For

A Divemaster or Assistant Instructor who is ready to take the next step and become a full-time instructor.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age: 18 years

  • Certified diver for at least 6 months

  • Proof of 100 logged dives in a variety of environments and depths

  • Certified as one of the following:

    • Divemaster

    • Assistant Instructor

    • Or equivalent

  • Proof of current certification in:

    • First Response Adult and Child Emergency Care

    • Oxygen Administration, or equivalent certification where permitted by local law

Divers First Aid for the Professional

DAN’s Diving First Aid for Professional Divers (DFA Pro) is a Coast Guard approved course designed for commercial, professional, captains, aquarium, and scientific divers, providing first-aid knowledge and skills specific to these work environments. It also provides rescue management skills for Rescue divers, Dive Masters and Dive Instructors.

Who this course is for:

DFA Pro is an all inclusive program comprised of information from the following courses:

  • Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries, Neurological Assessment, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries and CPR / AED.

  • It meets both USCG standards and OSHA guidelines. We highly recommend and require this course for Rescue divers, Divemasters and Instructors.

  • 2 year Certification!

Course prerequisites:

  • Scene safety assessment

  • Initial and secondary assessments

  • One- and two-person CPR for adults, children and infants

  • Automated external defibrillator (AED) use

  • Obstructed airway management

  • Oxygen first aid administration

  • F-A-S-T assessment

  • Wound management and bandage and splint application

  • Control of external bleeding

  • Pressure immobilization technique

  • Severe allergic reaction management
